Brendan Dauth, Southwestern University, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 1)
BRENDAN DAUTH OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Spring, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Friday, August 31st to Sunday, September 2.
 
Dauth led a defense that allowed just one goal and posted a shutout as the Pirates went 1-1, to open the 2018 season against a pair of nationally ranked opponents. Against No. 3 Chicago, Dauth and the defense limited the Maroons to just six shots on goal in a tough, 1-0 loss. Dauth and the Pirates responded with an impressive 2-0 shutout of No. 19 Rutgers-Newark.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalie Keller Mochel of Colorado College helped the Tigers to a 1-1 record last week to open up the 2018 season. Mochel finished with four saves while recording his first clean sheet of the season and the fourth of his career in Sunday’s victory over Chapman. Sophomore goalkeeper Sean Carlin of Dallas logged two full games in net for the Crusaders last week surrendering just one goal in 180 minutes of action. In Dallas’ 2-0 victory against Sull Ross St., Carlin collected a pair of saves in the shutout win. Junior defender Vetle Masvaer Halle of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-0-1 record to start the season, facing off against No. 19 Rutgers-Newark and No. 3 Chicago in a pair of weekend home games.
