LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's soccer programs have been named to the 2021-2022 United Soccer Coaches All-Academic team, it was announced late last week. Complete Release from USC website
Southwestern received honors for both programs for the second time in the last three years, while Colorado College and Texas Lutheran were recognized on the men’s side and Dallas and Trinity were recognized on the women’s side. The Pirates are one of 152 schools across the country to have both their men’s and women’s programs recognized (Both Colorado College programs were also recognized but the CC women play at the Division I level).
The Colorado College men led all SCAC programs with an impressive 3.61 cumulative GPA, placing CC in the top-10 of the 299 teams recognized on the men’s side. The Tigers’ selection marks the 16th consecutive year and 22nd overall in program history. Southwestern secured honors for the fourth time in the last six years and Texas Lutheran was recognized for the second time in the last three seasons and fourth time since 2016.
On the women’s side, Trinity paced all female programs with a team GPA of 3.51. This year marks the first time since 2019 the Tiger women have received USC All-Academic team recognition. Dallas took home academic honors for the second time in the last three years, while Southwestern has now made the list five consecutive years and 20 times in program history.
A total of 799 college teams (299 men, 500 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 152 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2021-22 academic year.
