LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Weather played a factor in the opening weekend of SCAC play, with a number of non-conference contest cancellations and even a league game between, Johnson & Wales (0-1, 2-1) and Dallas (0-1, 1-2) that was scheduled for last Friday.
Colorado College went on the road to earn a pair of 1-0 shutout league victories against Austin College (1-1, 2-1-1) on Friday and Dallas on Sunday. The Tigers have posted three-straight shutouts following an opening season loss, marking the fifth-straight season CC has put up a streak of at least three-straight shutouts.
Austin College bounced back from its loss to CC to defeat Johnson & Wales, 3-0, on Sunday in the SCAC debut for the Wildcats. Schreiner (0-0-1, 1-2-1) and Centenary (0-1-1, 1-2-1) earned a point each in the conference standings after they battled to a double-overtime scoreless draw on Sunday.
Texas Lutheran (1-0, 2-1) put together an impressive week, knocking off non-conference foe Howard Payne, 7-0, on Wednesday and then defeating Centenary, 3-2, on Friday. The seven goals scored by the Bulldogs was the most for the program since 2010 in a single contest.
In other non-conference action, No. 17 Trinity defeated Hardin-Simmons, Southwestern knocked off Concordia-Texas and Schreiner beat Sul Ross St., last Friday.
Conference play continues this week with four contests scheduled, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, including the league openers for Trinity and Southwestern on Tuesday.
