LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – For the second year in a row, senior Keenan Amer earned a spot on CoSIDA's Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team and once again is eligible for Academic All-America consideration. Complete Academic All-District Release
Amer, a product of Santa Fe N.M., owns a cumulative 3.84 grade-point average as an Organismal Biology & Ecology major.
One of team’s most versatile student-athletes, Amer was one of three Tigers who started all 19 games and ranked first on the team with 1,735 minutes played as both a defender and midfielder.
Amer helped anchor Colorado College's defensive effort, which ranked first in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 11 shutouts as well as second with a 0.90 goals-against average and only 18 goals allowed.
In the offensive third, Amer led the team with five assists, was fifth with nine points and tied for sixth with a pair of goals.
Amer struck for the game winner in the 1-0 victory over Centenary College on Oct. 19, finding the net with a header in the 76th minute. He also set up the deciding scores in wins over Centenary on the road and Schreiner University at Stewart Field.
The four-year starter completed his career with four goals, 13 assists and 21 points.
Off the field, Amer was a 3rd-team Scholar All-American as a junior in 2017 and earned three consecutive appearances on the SCAC’s Academic Honor Roll.
“Keenan has been a standout student-athlete throughout his time at Colorado College,” head coach Scott Palguta said. “Keenan and others before him who have achieved great things on and off the soccer field share a common quality: they did the work. That is easier said than done. His work ethic has been relentless.
“Countless times, I came down for breakfast on a road trip at 7 a.m. to find Keenan already spread out, laptop and notes out, buried in school work. He is known by his teammates and coaches to be a fitness junky, but it is important for those outside our team to appreciate just how committed Keenan is to being the very best soccer player and student he can possibly be.”
The 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
