GEORGETOWN, Texas
– Director of Athletics Dr. Glada Munt announced Dustin Norman as the fourth Head Men's Soccer Coach in program history at Southwestern.

Norman comes to Southwestern after three seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Southern Methodist University. In those three seasons, Norman helped the Mustangs to three American Athletics Conference (AAC) Championships while earning AAC Coaching Staff of the Year twice. The Mustangs made multiple trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 and were ranked in the top 10 nationally each season.

The 2017 squad went 17-3-1 overall and advanced to the NCAA Championship where they fell to #3 North Carolina in the third round.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank Dr. Munt and the search committee for the opportunity to guide the Southwestern University men's soccer program moving forward," said Norman. "I will be forever indebted to the great coaches, mentors, and administrations who have supported and encouraged me over the course of my coaching career, and who have helped me arrive where I am today.  I am thrilled to put my experience and passion to work driving results, both on and off the field, for the men's soccer program."

Prior to SMU, Norman spent two seasons at Oregon State University as the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator. OSU posted their highest Division I ranking in 10 years and earned the program's first NCAA Tournament win during Norman's stint.

Southwestern University Athletics is truly excited to bring in someone of Coach Norman's caliber to take over the reins of our Pirate men's soccer team," said Dr. Munt.  "He brings a wealth of high level coaching experience combined with a national recruiting presence to this position.  We are confident that Coach Norman will be taking our Pirate soccer program to the next level."

Additionally, Norman spent time at Houston Baptist (2008-12), Mercer (2006-08) and Middle Georgia College (2005-06) as an assistant.

A three-time Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) All-Conference selection as a student-athlete at Maryville College, Norman logged 36 career goals and 22 assists and was named to the All-South Academic Team. He graduated in 2005 with a bachelor in business administration from Maryville and earned his master's degree in business administration in 2008 from Mercer.
