Ten SCAC Student-Athletes Named to NSCAA All-West Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Ten Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer student-athletes earned recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Thursday.

The SCAC made up eight of the 13 players who earned All-West Region First Team recognition, with four each from Trinity University and Colorado College. CC also placed one player on Second Team, while Austin College rounded out the 10 athletes with one third team member.

On first team, CC's Theo Hooker earned the goalkeeping spot, while defender Jack McCormick, midfielder Soren Frykholm and forward Caden MacKenzie joined. Tim Huettel was the Tigers second team honoree.

Trinity was led on first team by the SCAC Offensive Player of the Year Austin Michaelis and the Defensive Player of the year Laurence Wyke. They were joined by teammates Christian Sakshaug and Kellen Reid, both midfielders.

Austin College's Phillip Le earned third team honors.

Le, Michaelis, Reid and MacKenzie made up four of the top five leaders in scoring for the conference, with Le leading the league (14). Michaelis tied with teammate Sakshaug to lead the league in assists with nine, adding to his 11 goals for 31 total points - a conference-best mark.

Huettel was second among the league's assist leaders, totaling seven for the season.

Defensively, Colorado College led the conference with a 0.61 goals against average. Trinity was close behind, allowing just 0.66 goals per game.
