Third-Ranked Tiger Men's Soccer Beats Chapman to Reach Round of 16

SAN ANTONIO, Texas
 The third-ranked Trinity men's soccer team completed its weekend of action in the NCAA Playoffs by defeating Chapman (CA) University 2-0 in the second round, advancing to the Round of 16. Complete Release

Despite a flurry of shots in the first 45 minutes of action, the two teams were locked in a scoreless tie at the half.  Trinity held a slight 9-7 edge in total shots, as well as a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, but neither team managed to get past goalkeepers Todd Whittaker (Trinity) and Sean Augustine (Chapman).

Early in the second half, Daniel Ruano changed the complexion of the game, scoring on a free kick from about 20 yards out.  Ruano ripped the ball over the Chapman wall, and into the top-right corner for the eventual game-winner at 48:06.  

In the 78th minute, Christian Sakshaug slipped a pass into the box for Austin Michaelis, and Michaelis converted for the insurance goal.
