
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Texas Lutheran sophomore Lalo Ramirez and Dallas junior Nathan Nwaeze have been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for Week One of the SCAC Soccer Season. Texas Luthern sophomore Jonathan Michael has earned SCAC Defensie Player-of-the-Week.

LALO RAMIREZ
OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender
from Round Rock, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday,
August 29 through Sunday, August 31.
Ramirez played the hero as the Bulldogs got out
to two straight wins to open up their season. In both wins,
Ramirez notched the game-winning goal. He recorded
three shots over the two games, with all three shots coming on
goal.
NATHAN NWAEZE
OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior midfielder from
Mansfield, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer
Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday,
August 29 through Sunday, August 31.
After finding themselves down 2-0 to Fontbonne going into the
second half of their home opener, Nwaeze led the
Crusaders on a furious comeback including the the game winning game
for a 3-2 win.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Steven Resnik of Southwestern scored the game winner against Puget Sound and took three shots, one on goal, in the two contests. Junior midfielder Victor Araujo of Trinity scored Trinity's only goal of the weekend, netting the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Puget Sound on Sunday night. Austin College, Centenary, Colorado College and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week.

JONATHAN
MICHAEL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore
goalkeeper from Coppell, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's
Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday,
August 29 through Sunday, August 31.
Michael was excellent in the Bulldogs' first two games of the 2013
campaign. The sophomore keeper gave up one goal while making 13
saves (.929 save pct.) while helping his team to two wins.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Andrew
Worthington anchored the Colorado College defense that
allowed just one shot on goal during the 0-0 tie against Whitman
College. Senior
goalkeeper Daniel Poole of Southwestern recorded one shutout
this week and was just minutes away from a second as he played
every minute of action in goal for the Pirates. Senior defender Ben Anderson led
Trinity to a shutout victory in his first career start on
Sunday night, as the Tigers defeated Puget Sound 1-0 –
allowing just seven total shots in the victory. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas and Schreiner did not nominate
anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
