LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Headed by
tournament MVPs Victor Araujo of Trinity University and Daniel
Poole of Southwestern University, the conference office today
announced the 2013 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC)
Men’s Soccer All-Tournament team.
Trinity won its second straight SCAC Men's Soccer Championship
after defeating Southwestern in a thrilling 1-0 final. For the
Tigers, the win represented the program’s 16th SCAC title and
second straight finals win over the Pirates.
Just two minutes into Sunday’s title match, All-Tournament
forward Yuri Ribeiro sent a lofting cross into the box from right
of goal and found Simon Uribe on the far post who headed it home to
give TU the 1-0 lead – a lead they would not relinquish.
Araujo netted the game-winner in Trinity’s 3-0 semifinal win
over Texas Lutheran and had six shots in two contests on the way to
earning Offensive MVP honors. Poole, the tournament’s
Defensive MVP, had a tournament-high 13 saves including a diving
save on a penalty kick at the end of regulation in Saturday’s
2-1 overtime win over Colorado College that helped secure the
Pirates’ spot in the SCAC finals.
Trinity had five players earn all-Tournament recognition, followed
by Colorado College and Southwestern University with three
selections each.
