ANDREW HARWOOD OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Bronxville, N.Y., has been named the SCAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 11 through Sunday, March 17.
Harwood posted a 2.33 goals-against average and an .800 save percentage last week to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 record with wins over Salve Regina and Elmhurst. In CC’s 20-5 victory over Elmhurst on Saturday, Harwood stopped 10 shots during his 44:17 minutes of action, marking the second time this season and the 16th time in his career that he has recorded double-digit saves. In addition, Harwood helped CC diffuse five of six man-down situations, including one that lasted a full two minutes midway through the third quarter.
Other Outstanding Performances:
Southwestern sophomore faceoff specialist Zane Abbott secured 50 of 65 faceoffs in the circle while picking up 19 ground balls and causing a turnover to lead the Pirates to a 3-1 record last week.
