STEVE RIJO OF
COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior attacker from Basking
Ridge, N.J., has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 8 through
Sunday, April 14.
Rijo struck for a career-high seven
goals to help Colorado College clinch its fourth consecutive
regular-season championship with a 12-4 victory over Southwestern
on Sunday.
Trailing 1-0 late in the first quarter, Rijo
scored three times in the final 1:58 to put the Tigers in front to
stay. He also recorded CC’s final three goals in the fourth
quarter to put the game away. Rijo’s
previous high was five goals in a 17-2 victory at Hendrix on April
14, 2012.
Rijo took over the team lead with 25 goals and is tied for first with 35 points, both of which are personal single-season highs.
