SAYRE THOMAS OF COLORADO
COLLEGE a sophomore midfielder from Boise, Idaho
has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 25 through
Sunday, March 31.
Thomas won 12 of 14 faceoffs, grabbed 12 ground
balls and caused three turnovers as Colorado College opened its
conference schedule with victories at the University of Dallas and
Southwestern University.
During Friday’s 23-1 triumph over the Crusaders, Thomas won all six of his faceoffs, picked up seven ground balls and recorded three cause turnovers. In Sunday’s 15-4 win against the Pirates, he won six of eight draws and grabbed five ground balls.
Thomas leads the Tigers with 41 ground balls and ranks third in the conference averaging 3.73 per game. His 51 faceoff victories and .537 success ratio are the highs among the team’s specialists.
