HAL SMITH OF SEWANEE: UNIVERSTIY OF
THE SOUTH a first-year midfielder from Lexington,
Va., has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 2 through
Sunday, April 8.
Smith won 35 of 40 face-offs (.875) and collected
20 ground balls to help lead Sewanee to a pair of SCAC victories
last weekend.
During Friday’s 24-2 victory over Millsaps,
Smith won 18 of 19 face-offs (.947) and 10 ground
balls. He also scored a goal on two shots (one shot on goal).
In Saturday’s 17-6 win over Rhodes, Smith
recorded 10 more ground balls and won 17 of 21face-offs (.810).
Smith added another goal on his only shot and
caused one turnover.
