LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The 2019 SCAC men's lacrosse season officially got underway this weekend with two of the league's four teams in action.

Southwestern (1-0) opened its 2019 campaign with a 20-11 victory over Huntingdon (Ala.) College. Kai Knight-Turcan led the way for the Pirates with a team high four goals, followed closely by Jack Doloszycki with three. Zac Asbury, who had two goals and two assists in the first period, had a career-high of eight assists as well as a team-high seven ground balls. Kyle Kuberski had seven saves in net with Alex Melitz adding three more. The victory marked the fifth consecutive win over Huntington in the program's history.

Dallas (0-1) traveled to Conway, Arkansas and dropped a 25-7 decision to Hendrix College. The Warriors, who improved to 2-0, netted the first three goals before Chasen Reynolds put the Crusaders on the board. It was the lone goal for the visitors in that quarter as another three goals for Hendrix opened a 6-1 lead.

Tyler Smith, who put in the final two goals of the second frame for the Crusaders, finished with a team-high three for the hat trick. Cole Griffin was saddled with the loss as he nabbed a career-high 23 saves in a complete game. Joe Anderson led the team with eight groundballs. UD picked up 33.

All four SCAC teams will be in action next week, highlighted by Colorado College traveling to take on #13 Christopher Newport (Va.) University on Friday before taking on #14 Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday in a neutral site contest in Baltimore (on the campus of Johns Hopkins). SCAC newcomer Johnson & Wales (Denver) kicks off its season when it plays host to Division II opponent Adams State University on Sunday.
