LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The first SCAC contest was in action this past weekend as Colorado College defeated Southwestern and ended their three game winning streak to get a leg up on the conference standings. The Tigers fell later in the week to nationally ranked Roanoke.

Centenary continues to search for its
first win of the season after falling 21-1 at Rhodes College on
Sunday afternoon. The Gents attempted eight shots in the contest
including three coming from the stick of Spencer Nelson. Garrett
Wick and Cameron Hughes each took two shots with Hughes finding the
back of the net for the Gents only goal with just over a minute to
play. Centenary placed three of its eight attempts on goal in the
outing. Bastien Hay played all 60 minutes between the posts warning
off eight shots for saves in the contest – marking a
career-high and the second-best effort on the season. Centenary
returns to action on Monday, March 10 as the Gents open a five-game
homestand against Illinois Wesleyan slated for 5 p.m.
Colorado College split a pair of neutral-site games last week at the Patriot Cup in Dallas. Senior midfielder Jack Kreitler scored three goals and added a pair of assists at the Tigers cruised to a 16-4 victory over Southwestern in the conference opener for both teams. Junior midfielder Taylor Paul needed just 58 seconds to put CC on the board, taking a feed from Tyler senior attackman Tyler Allen to notch the first of his three first-period tallies. Ninety seconds later, Allen made struck for the first of his two goals off a pass by freshman attackman Stephen Petersilge. Thanks in part to a dominating effort by junior midfielder Sayre Thomas on faceoffs, Colorado College broke the game open with three goals in a span of one minute, the last of which came off the stick of junior midfielder Dylan Davie and proved to be the game winner. Thomas won 14 of 15 faceoffs, grabbed a game-high seven ground balls and assisted on three scores. Eleven Tigers clicked for at least one goal, while 14 picked up one or more points. Sophomore Chase Murphy, who made one save during the first 30 minutes for CC, earned the victory in goal. Senior Zach Steedman stopped one shot during the third quarter, while freshman Ryan Goodall made four saves during the final 15 minutes. Murphy stopped 15 shots, but Colorado College was unable to penetrate the Roanoke defense and dropped an 11-3 decision to the 13th-ranked Maroons on Sunday. Junior midfielder Henri Halle gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead when he scored 1:02 into the contest. Roanoke tied the score a little more than two minutes later and took the lead six seconds after that. CC trailed just 5-2 when Halle notched his second marker with 5:23 remaining before halftime, and Paul struck for Colorado College’s final goal with 2:40 remaining in the third quarter. Murphy posted double-digit saves for the eighth time in his career, while sophomore defender Tim Jenkins paced the CC defense with five ground balls and caused three turnovers. The Tigers play at home for the first time this season when Wentworth Institute of Technology visits Washburn Field on Sunday, March 9, at 1 p.m.
