LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - It was a big week for all three SCAC men's lacrosse teams as Colorado College had a strong weekend, going 3-0 at home including huge Pool B wins as well as a victory over Southwestern. The Pirates dropped a couple of tough contest in the rockies while Centenary continues to search its first win of the season, dropping a pair of games this past weekend.

Centenary dropped both contests this weekend falling 21-3 to Hope College and 16-0 to Birmingham Southern. The 16 goals allowed was the fewest this season for the Gents as the three goals scored against HC marked a season-high. Centenary returns to action on Monday, March 24 as they host Huntingdon and opens conference play against Southwestern on Friday, March 28.
Colorado College won all three of its home games last week. Sophomore goaltender Chase Murphy made a season-high 16 saves to help the Tigers cruise to an 11-5 victory over Babson College on Wednesday. Murphy, who recorded double-digit saves for the fourth time this season and the 11th time in his career, steered aside six shots during the fourth quarter when CC was flagged for four one-minute penalties and played two men down for 67 seconds. Senior midfielder Jack Kreitler and senior attackman Tyler Allen each finished with two goals and two assists to fuel the Colorado College offense. Freshman attackman Jack McCormick scored twice and set up one other marker. The Tigers also received dominating performances from senior long-stick midfielder P.J. Higgins and junior midfielder Sayre Thomas. Higgins paced the defensive effort with a career-high nine ground balls and one caused turnover, while Thomas won 17 of 19 faceoffs and grabbed eight ground balls. Junior midfielder Dylan Davie struck for a season-high three goals, including the game winner with 12:23 remaining in the fourth quarter, as Colorado College rallied to defeat Otterbein University, 8-7, on Friday against one of the teams it is competing against for a 'Pool B' selection to the NCAA Tournament. After trailing 3-0 late in the first quarter, Dylan Davie tied the contest 2:18 into the third quarter and gave CC its first lead with 4:11 to play in the frame. The Tigers extended their lead to 8-5 on goals by junior midfielder Gray Ritger and Dylan Davie early in the fourth quarter. SU trailed most of the game but scored five unanswered goals to close out a 7-5 win Monday evening. The Pirates then traveled to Colorado Springs for a neutral site game against Babson before returning to conference play against Colorado College. Southwestern fell behind early once again, but this time their comeback fell short despite scoring six unanswered, falling 12-8 to Babson on Friday. Colorado College jumped out to a huge early lead on Sunday and held the Pirates at bay to win 14-5 Sunday. Southwestern returns home for the final time this season, facing Huntingdon College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before facing Centenary College on Friday in Shreveport.
