
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - In its only game of the week, Colorado College jumped out to a 10-0 halftime lead on its way to a 23-3 non-conference win over Trine University on March 8. Henri Halle led the Tiger offense as he scored three goals and assisted on two others.
AROUND THE SCAC
Centenary (0-4 overall, 0-1 SCAC) had the week off. The Gents return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to Irving, Texas to square off against SCAC foe Dallas at 2 p.m.
Senior attackman Steve Rijo and sophomore midfielder Henri Halle
recorded three goals and five points apiece to lead
Colorado College to a 23-3 victory over Trine
University in the Tigers' home opener on Friday night at Washburn
Field. Sophomore midfielder Nick Ahrens put CC on the board 3:49
into the first period and Rijo doubled the lead 56 seconds later,
the first of four times the hosts struck for two goals in less than
a minute. After sophomore midfielder Gray Ritger scored an
unassisted goal midway through the quarter, sophomore midfielder
Sayre Thomas struck for what proved to be the game winner of his
career with 2:40 remaining in the opening period. Senior attacker
Charles Curtis recorded three of his game-high four assists during
the first half to help the Tigers open a 10-0 lead after 30
minutes. Freshman attackman Chris Lee scored two of his three goals
in the third quarter, which also saw sophomore midfielder Brooks
Pinnick and freshman attackman Robert Prior notch the first goal of
their careers. Freshman midfielder Charlie Neaves found the net for
the first time with 1:10 remaining in the game. In addition to his
two goals and an assist, Thomas won eight of 14 face-offs and
grabbed a team-high nine ground balls. All four goaltenders played
for CC. Freshman Chase Murphy stopped all nine shots he faced in
34:53 of action. Junior Zach Steedman made three saves. Colorado
College (3-1) returns to action on Wednesday, March 13, when the
Tigers open their six-game spring break schedule with a home game
against Wheaton (Mass).
Dallas (0-2) fell 8-5 to Regis (Mass.) on Saturday
afternoon in Irving, Texas. The Pride produced four second-half
scores to prevail over the Crusaders. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan
Murphy made 13 saves in the home-opener and even registered a shot
for Dallas. Regis boasted a 42-22 shots advantage. Junior attack
Tony Lemos tallied two goals to pace the Crusaders in scoring.
Andrew Kent, Joey Mullen and Cody Wooten also found the back of the
net for head coach Jeff Guy's squad. Huntingdon College (Ala.) and
Centenary College of Louisiana are on the docket this week. Dallas
will play Huntingdon on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Montgomery, Ala.,
before hosting Centenary on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the conference
opener.
Southwestern went 1-1 last week playing tough northeast
competition. The Pirates dropped a tough 10-9 game to Misericordia
where Jamie long had four goals and Austin Fox added three. Goal
keeper AJ Cole had a great game in goal with 12 saves. The Pirates
then came back the next day to play Regis (Mass.) and won 12-8.
Long again played stellar with three goals, Fox added two goals and
Jackson Timian had a goal and 3 assists in the win.
