MATTHEW MCARTHUR OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from New Braunfels, Texs, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 4 through Tuesday, March 10.
McArthur placed fifth overall in the 88-golfer field at the BSN Sports Dataw Invite, leading the Bulldogs to a sixth-place team finish. The overnight leader after two rounds on Monday, McArthur shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished three shots behind individual champion Brendon Lowrance of McMurry.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year golfer Daniel Nunez of Trinity finished alone in fourth after shooting 1-under 71 each day for a 142 total at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. He was just one stroke from the leaders of the tournament. Junior Emilio Montalvo of Dallas, along with teammate Jacob Wade, finished tied for 14th in the 58-player field at the Schriener Spring Shootout with a two-day total of 151. Montalvo had rounds of 76 and 75. Sophomore Christopher Cameron of Schreiner joined Dallas' Montalvo and Wade as part of the four-way tie for 14th place with a two-day 151 at the Schreiner Shootout to pace the Mountaineers.
