SCAC Men's Golf Fall Recap - Week Four

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three of the league's eight teams were in action, highlighted by St. Thomas and Trinity playing at the UMHB Crusader Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.

St. Thomas fired rounds of 310 and 312 (+46) to finish in third place at the 11-team field, just one shot in front of fellow SCAC squad Trinity, who shots rounds of 313 and 310 (+47).

The Celts were led by sophomore Henry Phavorachit, who finished tied for third with a two-day total of 148 (+4), which included an even par 72 on Tuesday - the second-lowest round of the day. Freshman teammate Patrick Smetek posted a top-10 finish with a 152 (+8). 

Trinity freshman Daniel Nunez was tops for the Tigers, tying for fifth after shooting a two-day total of 149 (+5) with rounds of 75 and 74. Fellow freshman Zac Bunder followed with a 157 (+13), which was good for a tie for 23rd in the 63-player field.

The Johnson & Wales men's golf team improved its team score by 14 shots to finished seventh of 10 teams at the Linfield College Wildcat Invitational at Michelbook Country Club. 

Senior Alex Fernandez carded a second-round 78 (+6) on Sunday to finish 16-over for the tournament and tied for 29th individually. Sophomore Steven Gadient matched Fernandez with a 78 on Sunday, placing him tied for 34th with a tournament total of 163.

Play continues next week with three conference teams - Centenary, Schreiner and Texas Lutheran - in action at the LeTourneau Tempest Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
