SCAC Men's Golf Fall Recap - Week Four

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s golf teams were in action last week at two different events, led by Schreiner, Dallas and Trinity competing at the Crusader Intercollegiate hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Concordia (Tex.) won the team title at the 11-team event with a 36-hole team score of 597 (303-294), followed by Schreiner in second with 610 strokes (306-304), Dallas in fourth with 623 strokes (321-302) and Trinity in fifth with a team score of 629 (312-317).

Individually, seven players from the SCAC cracked the top-20 in the event that featured 59 total golfers. Leading the way was Schreiner senior Jason Lopez and Dallas sophomore Emilio Montalvo who finished in a three-way tie for fifth with 151 strokes. Lopez fired rounds of 75 and 76, while Montalvo carded rounds of 78 and 73 respectively at Wildflower Country Club on the par-72, 6,913-yard course. Teammates Wyatt Koricanek, Jake Bell and Christopher Cameron of Schreiner finished in a three-way tie for ninth with matching 36-hole scores of 153. Sophomore Dawson Dally led Trinity, finishing in 15th-place (156), followed by junior Peyton Bartee who finished in a four-way tie for 16th (157). Concordia’s Seger Howell picked up the individual title with a three-under par score of 141.

Johnson & Wales finished 18th out of 18 teams with a two-day score of 707 (362-345) in the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Oglethorpe in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Babson and Greensboro shared the team title after posting 36-hole scores of 584. Johnson & Wales junior Alexander Fernandez led the Wildcats in the individual standings by finishing as part of a four-way tie for 69th out of 102 golfers with a two-day tally of 155 (80-75). Oglethorpe’s Jacob Arnett picked up the individual title with an eight-under par score of 136 (67-69)

The SCAC men’s golf schedule will take a break from competition this week and return the weekend of October 13th-14th.
