GREENSBORO, N.C. – Southwestern University men's golf season has come to a close after missing the cut by just 12 strokes at the 2018 NCAA Championship Wednesday. SU finished the event in 26th place with 619 strokes.
The Pirates started the day having to complete the first round after play was suspended Tuesday due to weather. Second round action then began approximately three hours later then expected.
Sutherland Stith led Southwestern with two strong rounds. He followed up his opening round 77 with a two-over par 74, finishing the tournament tied for 65th. Stith posted two birdies on the day and ended with 151 strokes.
Matthew Christl opened the tournament with a 74 in the first round, the best first round of the day for Southwestern. Christl carded a 79 during the second round to finish with 153 strokes and tied for 86th.
Cade Osgood finished tied for 113th place after a pair of 78s for the tournament. Tyler Gammill went 80-79 for a two-round score of 159 to finish tied for 145th while Devon Horne closed the Championship with 163 strokes and tied for 173rd.
The Championship marks the close of the 2018 season.
