Oglethorpe Finishes Sixth; Centre 13th at the 2010 NCAA Men's Golf Championships

- Oglethorpe University finished in a tie for sixth and Centre College tied for 13th as the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships came to an end Friday afternoon at the Hershey Links and Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

The defending national champion Petrels had pulled into fourth place on Thursday after firing the best round of the day, but a team score of 304 (+16) - just the 20th best score on the final day - dropped Oglethorpe back to a tie for sixth (1201 team score).

Jordan Hall had a team-best final round 73 to card a four-day total of 311 (tied for 80th overall). Matt Rebitch fired a 74 and finished the tournament at 302 (tied for 42nd).

Although he settled for a final day round of 78, Eric Quinn carded the lowest four-day score for Oglethorpe with an even 300 and finished tied for 31st in the individual race. Scott Pugh, who shot an 80 on Friday, was one shot behind Quinn with a four-day total of 301 (tied for 35th). Craig Stevenson shot a final-round score of 79 and finished with a total of 306 for the tournament (tied for 55th).

The Colonels ended up with a team score of 1215, which tied them for 13th place. On the first day Centre shot 308, the second day they recorded a 305, following the third round of play they shot a 304, and on the fourth and final day they had their best score of 298.

Junior Chris Morris (Maysville, Ky.) had his best performance on the fourth and final day of play as he shot a 67 to take third overall in the tournament with an overall score of 284. He completed the first round of play with a 75, on the second day he shot 70, and Morris recorded a 72 on the third day.

Morris was named to the Division III All-American First Team, as well as being named a First Team Scholar. He was also named to the All-South Region First Team for his performance.

Freshman Patrick Davidson shot a 78 in the final round and tied for 77th overall. Sophomore Randy Boll had a 75 on the fourth day and tied for 84th place, while senior Chris Conkright shot a 79 and ended up tied for 89th. Junior Lyndon Jones completed the final round with a 78 and finished in 116th place.

Methodist University won the NCAA Championships with an overall score of 1177 and Tain Lee from Claremont Mudd Scripps was the individual winner as he shot a 280 over the four day period.
