
TRISTAN DICK OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior guard from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 29 through Sunday, February 4. SCAC Men's Baskeetball Release (Week 13)
Dick led the ‘Roos men’s basketball team last weekend to a pair of key SCAC home wins, knocking off Texas Lutheran on Friday, 73-68, and Southwestern on Saturday, 82-70. Dick averaged a steady 18.5 points per game on an impressive 57.1 percent shooting, highlighted by hitting the 1,000 career-point mark in the win over the Pirates. He had 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting and was 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the charity stripe in the win over the Bulldogs, and then added 17 points on 62.5 percent on 5-of-8 shooting, 100 percent (3-of-3) from beyond the arc and 80 percent (4-of-5) from the charity stripe against Southwestern. In addition, Dick ended his double-digit scoring weekend averaging 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Currently, Dick and Austin College sit at 6-8 in conference play after going 2-0 this weekend and 11-11 overall.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Jakobi Greenleaf of Centenary led the Gents over the weekend with an 11-point scoring performance shooting 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from the field and 50 percent (1-of-2) from the charity stripe in the 75-60 victory over St. Thomas at home. He added 19 points (7-of-11) from the field after edging out Colorado College, 61-58, on the road last Friday. Greenleaf added 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. First-year forward Teddy Tapken of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with two double-digit scoring performances. Tapken had 13 in the loss against Austin College on 6-of-10 from the field and followed up with a career-high 24 points in the victory over Dallas on 10-of-13 from the field and shot 75 percent (3-of-4) beyond the arc. He added 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Sophomore guard Nick Anderson of St. Thomas led the Celts with two double-digit scoring performances. Anderson averaged 17.5 points per game, including 14 in the road loss to Centenary and followed that performance with a weekend-high 21 points in the victory over Colorado College on 7-of-12 from the field. He added 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Sophomore forward Asher Nofziger of Colorado College led the Tigers while scoring a career-high 21 points on 8-of-16 from the field in the loss against St. Thomas. Nofziger added 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.5 blocks per game as the Tigers dropped a pair of SCAC contests at home. Junior forward Brock Luechtefeld of Southwestern led the Pirates in scoring, pouring in 24 points on 7-of-13 from the field in the loss against Dallas and added 14 points on 5-of-11 from the field in the loss to Austin College. Luechtefeld added 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 0.5 steals per game.
