Cedric Harris, Centenary College, Player of the Week (Week Nine)

CEDRIC HARRIS OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior guard from Shreveport, La., has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 14 through Sunday, January 20.

Harris dropped 22 points in helping Centenary earn a 21-point victory against Austin College last Friday. The junior registered his first double-double of the year by grabbing a season high 10 rebounds on the night. In addition, he also managed a career high four blocks - helping the Gents tie the school record for blocks, the first double-digit block game as a division three institution, and the most blocks in the SCAC this season. He also finished a solid night with three steals.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman guard Aaron Acosta of Colorado College averaged 14 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a pair of SCAC losses over the weekend. Senior guard Josh Bashford of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to back-to-back SCAC victories over the weekend, averaging 12 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and one block per game. Junior forward Brandon Alexander of Southwestern continues to increase both usage and efficiency through conference play, averaging 19.5 points per game last week, while averaging 8.5 rebounds. Alexander has now reached the 20-point plateau in four of his last six contests after hitting that mark just once in his first 11 games this year. Senior guard Alex Cage of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a couple of SCAC victories last week. In TLU's key road win over Southwestern, Cage came off the bench to put up an impressive 26 points and lift the Bulldogs to sole possession of first place in the SCAC standings. He saw 18 minutes in that game, finishing 10-for-18 from the field and 50 percent from the arc. Cage added four points, grabbed six rebounds and three assists in the Bulldogs' home win over Dallas. For the week he shot 45.8 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the free throw line. Senior forward Matthew Colliflower of Trinity led the Tigers to a 1-1 record in SCAC play over the weekend, falling on a last-second three-pointer to Johnson & Wales and knocking off Colorado College.
