MATTHEW RINDAHL OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Kyle, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27.

Rindahl averaged a double-double in a pair of contests last week with 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. The sophomore connected on 56.7 percent of his shots from the field (17-for-30) and contributed two blocks, one assist and one steal per game on the week. Rindahl’s best performance came in an overtime win at Austin College where he registered his second double-double of the year with 24 points and 17 rebounds. He also hit 64.7 percent of his shots from the floor, connecting on 11-of-17 attempts. The 17 rebounds marks the highest single game total to date in the SCAC. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Devin Roland of Austin College had a big week as the ‘Roos went 1-1, averaging 21 points, four rebounds and two steals per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. Roland poured in a career best 26 points in a win over Centenary. Freshman forward Ty Prince of Centenary had a stellar week, starting with his second career double-double at Austin on Tuesday, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He followed that up with 18 points and nine rebounds as the Gents picked up a big home win against Schreiner. Junior forward CooXooEii Black of Colorado College became the 22nd player in the history to score 1,000 career points in a loss at Dallas last Friday. Black finished with a game-high 23 points and ran his career total to 1,014, which leaves him only nine away from climbing to 19th place on the program's career list. Sophomore guard Josh Nunn of Dallas turned in a pair of double-digit scoring performances, including a career-high 22 points against JWU last Saturday. Senior guard Andrew Romero III of Johnson & Wales (Denver) kept the Wildcats in the regular season title hunt with a 27-point, 10-rebound performance in Saturday's win at Dallas for his fourth double-double of the season. Romero III was an efficient 10-of-15 shooting from the floor and added four assists and two steals. Junior forward Brandon Alexander of Southwestern scored 21 of his 24 points and grabbed eight of his 11 rebounds against Trinity University in the second half, shooting 7-for-10 after the break to finish 8-for-18 for the game, including 4-for-11 from the 3-point line to lead the Pirates to a 78-69 victory. He also contributed a season-high five assists. Senior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran hit five three-pointers, tying his season-best mark, in the 65-59 conference home victory Saturday evening versus Trinity. The San Antonio, Texas native finished the contest on 56 percent shooting (5-for-9) from behind the arc and went 5-for-10 overall from the field in his 29 minutes of action. He added four rebounds and three assists to finish off the Bulldogs' undefeated month of January. Senior forward Isaiah Specks of Trinity  set new career-highs in both games last week, averaging 27.0 points per game and shooting 56.4% (22-39) from the field in a pair of single-digit losses to the top two teams in the SCAC.
