Travion Kirkendoll, Centenary College, Player of the Week (Week One)

TRAVION KIRKENDOLL OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior guard from Campti, La., has been named the SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, November 19th. 

Kirkendoll reached double-digit scoring in all three games last week to help lead Centenary to a 2-1 start. He leads the conference in scoring after the opening weekend, averaging 25.7 points per game. He is also efficient in his offensive attack, shooting 54.7% from the field.

Kirkendoll has been well-rounded in the first few games, averaging 3.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

The Gents opened the season under the new leadership of head coach Chris Dorsey, winning both games at the SCAC/SAA Challenge. Centenary defeated Millsaps, 74-66, and Hendrix, 81-70.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman guard/forward Michael Holland of Austin College had an outstanding first week to his career, averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 rebounds-per-game while shooting 55.9% from the field. Holland added 2.0 steals, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks-per-game. Senior guard Eric Houska of Colorado College led the Tigers to a 2-0 opening weekend, winning the UW-Stout Tip-Off Tournament. Houska averaged 15.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game for the week. Freshman forward Spencer Levi of the University of Dallas had a strong start to his collegiate career, recording 17 points on 85.7% shooting, while also grabbing 12 rebounds in the Crusaders' lone game last week. Senior forward Ryan Ogden of Southwestern University averaged 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Pirates opened the season going 1-1. Junior guard Nathan Josephs of Texas Lutheran University averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in two games last week. Senior guard Matt Jones of Trinity University paced the Tigers with 13.0 points/game on 62.5% shooting, as well as tallying 12 rebounds six steals, and eight assists to start the season.
