LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Johnson & Wales and Colorado College opened the league portion of the 2018-19 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule to highlight a light week of men's basketball action with four of nine teams idle to focus on exams.

JWU (8-2, 1-0) defeated CC (4-6, 0-1), 84-60, on the road last Tuesday behind 21 points and 11 rebounds from senior Jontrell Herman. After falling behind by nine and only scoring two points through the opening six and a half minutes of play, JWU closed out the half with 38 points over the final 13 minutes to open a 13-point lead at intermission en route to victory. Johnson & Wales kept busy with three non-conference games during the week, posting a 2-1 record in those contests which included wins over Caltech and Chapman. Colorado College finished the week, 0-3, following its loss to JWU with non-conference losses to Nebraska Wesleyan and Grinnell.
