Southwestern's Alexander Named NABC All-District

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2019 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District teams and coaches Wednesday, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division.

Southwestern University's Brandon Alexander earned first-team All-South region honors as the lone athlete to represent the SCAC. Earlier this week, Alexander was honored by D3hoops.com as an All-South Region First Team member.

The league's Player-of-the-Year, Alexander finished fourth in the SCAC in scoring (18.1 points per game), the highest single-season scoring average in program history since Southwestern joined the conference prior to the 1994-95 season. The junior was also fourth in the league in three-point field goals made (66), third in free throw percentage (83.0 percent) and ninth in rebounding (6.2 per game). He had an 11-game stretch following Christmas break where he averaged 22.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, including a 32-point, 11-rebound performance against Dallas on January 12.

He had a game-high 29 points and earned All-Tournament honors in his team's 91-84 loss to Dallas in the SCAC semifinals.

Alexander is just the second Southwestern men's basketball student-athlete to earn NABC Coaches’ All-District honors. Aaron Bowser earned First Team honors in 2005, when he, like Alexander, was named SCAC Player-of-the-Year.
