SCAC Men's Basketball Recap - Week 10

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The second half of conference play kicked off with some excitement as all eight teams remain in contention for a spot in the 2018 SCAC Men's Basketball Championship.

Schreiner University continues to lead the league, extending its winning streak to six games and moving to 7-1 in SCAC play. The Mountaineers hit the road for games against one of the conference's other top teams, Centenary College, defeating the Gents 65-64 in Shreveport. Schreiner also took down Austin College, 88-75.

Centenary  got a hot start to the weekend before the stumble against Schreiner, defeating Trinity 63-44. The Gents stifling defense held the Tigers' shooting to 22.4% from the field and 13.3% from distance.

The Gents are now at 5-4 in league play, tied with the University of Dallas. The Crusaders got back on track this week, recording a pair of five-points wins to sweep Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University on the road.

Colorado College moved up in the standings with a pair of wins over SU and TLU as well. The Tigers are now 4-5 in conference, with three of those wins on the road.

Trinity and Southwestern each sit at 4-4 in conference play, tied for fourth in the standings. Texas Lutheran moved to 3-5 after a two-loss weekend, dropping into the seventh spot.

The Austin College 'Roos earned their second win of the conference season, defeating Trinity University in a tight game. The 'Roos earned the 88-85 win behind 29 points from freshman Justice Mercadel.
