Gumbs Named to NABC All-America Third Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the 2018 NABC Coaches’ Division III All-America team and Schreiner University's Keenan Gumbs was recognized.

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division III, these student-athletes represent the most outstanding basketball players across America in their division.

Gumbs, a senior guard for the Mountaineers, added this honor to his extensive list of postseason accolades for 2017-18. Within the league, Gumbs was named the 2017-18 SCAC Player of the Year and earned tournament MVP honors. On a regional level, he earned a spot on both the NABC and D3hoops.com first-team All-South lists. He was also recognized for his efforts off of the court, being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American on Wednesday.

Gumbs averaged 21.2 points per game (second in the SCAC), while grabbing just over seven rebounds and one steal per contest. He also totaled 47 assists on the season. He shot 49.9% from the field and 43.3% from distance, both marks that rank in the league's top-10.

The Mountaineers had a historic season with Gumbs, winning the program's first-ever SCAC tournament title and a second-straight regular season championship. Their trip to the NCAA Division III tournament was also the first in program history.
