Schreiner's Gumbs Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the men's basketball Academic All-District® selections and Schreiner University's Keenan Gumbs earned first-team honors.

The 2017-18 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Gumbs, a senior for the Mountaineers, holds a 3.72 grade point average as a Excercise Sport Science major.

He has found success on the court as well this season, ranking second in the league in scoring, averaging 21.0 points per game. For the season, he is shooting just under 50.0% from the field and 43.9% from distance. Defensively, Gumbs is averaging 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Gumbs collected three Player of the Week honors. His highest career scoring performance added his name to the conference record book, marking the third-best scoring performance in league history.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in March.
