Schreiner's Gumbs, Trinity's Holden Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Co-Players of the Week earned spots on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week Monday evening.

This is the second time this season that SCAC players have earned Team of the Week honors and the first time for both Keenan Gumbs and Jayden Holden.

Gumbs, a senior guard from Schreiner University, led Schreiner to a 1-1 record on the road last week, defeating McMurry University, but falling just short against Hardin-Simmons University. He scored 24 points in both games, shooting 51.7% from the field and 50% from distance. Gumbs also grabbed 10.5 rebounds and dished out 2.0 assists per contest.

Holden, a senior forward from Trinity University, led the Tigers to a 1-1 record at the Leslie Robinson Invitational Classic, defeating Springfield College on Saturday, but dropping a double-overtime game against East Texas Baptist. Holden scored a career-high 30 points on 9-12 shooting in Friday's loss to ETBU, hitting all three of his attempts from three-point range, and knocking down 9-10 from the free throw line. In Saturday's win, Holden connected on 5-5 from the floor and 5-5 from the foul line, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. It marked his first double-double of the season, as well as the fourth of his career.
