LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Things heated up this week as the race for the top spot in Southern Collegiate Athletic Confrence men's basketball got a little bit tighter.
All eight teams split their weekend, with Austin College, University of Dallas, Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University picking up road wins on the front end, while Centenary College, Colorado College, Schreiner University and Trinity University finished out strong at home.
In a rematch between the top two teams in the SCAC, TLU (16-4, 8-1 SCAC) defeated Colorado College once again. The Bulldogs fell to Centenary College on Sunday. TLU remains the conference leader with just one loss, but Colorado College (13-8, 8-2 SCAC) is behind by a very slim margin, matching the Bulldogs' win total.
Southwestern (8-12, 5-4 SCAC) took down Centenary Friday night, but fell to Colorado College in an overtime thriller on Sunday to hold onto third place in the SCAC.
The University of Dallas and Centenary College are close at the four and five spot, respectively. UD defeated Trinity to earn a sweep over the Tigers this season, while they fell to Schreiner on Sunday.
