Texas Lutheran Earns Spot in D3Hoops.com Top 25

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After a two-week hiatus, the Texas Lutheran University men's basketball team has reentered the D3Hoops.com top 25, coming in at No. 23. Full release

The Bulldogs (13-3, 5-0 SCAC) have had a hot start to conference play, knocking off their first five opponents, while outscoring SCAC foes 80-72.8. Earlier in the season, the Bulldogs earned two wins over previously No. 15 East Texas Baptist.

The Bulldogs are averaging 81.4 points per game on the season, second-best among the conference, while they boast the conference's third-best defense, allowing just 74.9 points per game. TLU also has the best three-point field goal defense in the SCAC, with opponents shooting just .313 from beyond the arc.

 

TLU ranks 11th in the nation, averaging 31.00 defensive rebounds per game, while they've totaled 622 rebounds on the season, which comes in at 21st.

The Bulldogs offensive efforts are led by junior Sterling Holmes who is averaging 18.9 points per game, while shooting .471 from the field and .500 from distance. Just behind Holmes is 2015 SCAC Tournament MVP Jordan Kouremetis, averaging 15.0 points per game. In the front court, Zach Behr and Harris Jowell give the Bulldogs some height. The two players are averaging 13.6 and 6.9 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs will continue the SCAC action this weekend, taking on Colorado College and Centenary College. Colorado College is the only other team that remains undefeated in conference play, while facing Centenary College will be a rematch of the 2015 SCAC Tournament championship game.
