Texas Lutheran's Holmes Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After earning SCAC Player of the Week honors Monday, Sterling Holmes of the Texas Lutheran University men’s basketball team has been named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for his performance over the last week.

Holmes helped the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record over the holiday break, including a win over then No. 25 East Texas Baptist University. With a new poll released yesterday, the Bulldogs are now receiving votes.

Through the three-game stretch, Holmes averaged 22.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. He narrowly missed a triple-double in the game against Hardin-Simmons University, posting a 28 point, 11 rebounds and nine assist effort. He also had 17 points and eight boards in a huge comeback victory over the ranked Tigers.

This is the first D3hoops.com Team of the Week honor for a SCAC men’s basketball player since Colorado College’s Ryan Milne earned the honor on January 9, 2014.

Holmes and the Bulldogs will travel to Belton, Texas to face the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor next. They have three more games, including one exhibition game, prior to the holiday break.
