Four SCAC Teams Earn NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs earned Team Academic Excellence Awards from the National Association of Basketball Coaches Tuesday. Full release

The annual award is in its third year and was created by the NABC Committee on Academics to recognize outstanding academic achievement by teams that have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better or the 2014-15 season. This year, more than 175 colleges and universities earned the honor.

Trinity University earns the award for the third time, while Colorado College and Southwestern University have each earned it twice. Austin College joins them on the list of qualifying SCAC programs this year.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA Divisions I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2014-15 season.
