SEWANEE, Tenn. - Sewanee field hockey coach Jen
Baldaccini has been named the NFHCA Great Lakes Region Coach of
the Year for her success in 2008, which was her first season on the
Mountain.
"It is most gratifying to see that Coach Baldaccini has been
recognized by her peers for her outstanding coaching and leadership
by being selected as NFHCA Regional Coach of the Year in the Great
Lakes Region," added Sewanee athletic director Mark Webb. "It's
certainly a tribute to Jen and the team for her to be selected
after capturing the conference championship and participating in
the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's
history."
The 2008 Tigers won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
(SCAC) championship, earned a spot in the NCAA Championships for
the first time in school history and had four All-SCAC selections,
including the co-Offensive Player of the Year and co-Defensive
Player of the Year.
Coach Baldaccini lives in Sewanee with her husband, Marcus and came
to the Mountain from New Jersey, where she was the head varsity
coach at Henry Hudson School in Highlands.
