CAMERON WELCH OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior punter from New Braunfels, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 14. SCAC Football Release (Week 2)
Welch did a great job flipping the field Saturday night, pinning the Gents inside the 20 three times - averaging 41.0 yards per punt including a long of 50 yards - in the Bulldogs' 31-8 conference victory.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore placekicker Owen Painter of McMurry was 2-for-2 on his two field goal attempts, including a long of 36 yards, and also made 4-of-5 point after attempts as the War Hawks cruised to a 48-6 conference victory over Lyon. Sophomore defensive back Bryan Washington of Centenary had an interception on Saturday night at Texas Lutheran in the Gents' SCAC opener which he returned 62 yards and finished with four solo tackles and six total tackles, good for second-most on the team.
