COOPER WOODYARD OF AUSTIN
COLLEGE, a 6-2,
208-pound sophomore wide receiver/punter from The Woodlands, Texas,
has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams
Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October
4th.
Woodyard played a huge role in special
teams, helping pin the Southwestern offense deep in its on
territory all day long en route to a 20-13 win over the
Pirates.
Woodyard was sensational with an average of
41.1 yards on seven punts and pinned Southwestern inside the 20
twice, with a long punt of 56 yards.
For Woodyard, it was his first time punting
in his collegiate career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive back Cedric Whitaker, Jr. of Texas Lutheran led a strong effort on special teams with a pair of tackles on kickoff return. Whitaker, a senior, had a solo stop and a tackle assist on kickoff coverage as the Bulldogs limited Howard Payne to 15.5 yards per return. Southwestern and Trinity did not nominate anyone.
