SUWANEE, Ga. – The reigning SCAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, first-year running back Barrett Hudson of Austin College and senior defensive lineman Kane Strohman of McMurry University, were named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week for their performances on Saturday, October 12th.
Hudson had a huge game to help lead the 'Roos to their first win of the season, a 35-17 conference road victory at Lyon. He only carried the ball 11 times, but gained a whopping 240 yards for an average of nearly 22 yards-per-carry, and had three touchdowns of at least 71 yards. The 240 rushing yards are believed to be the 13th-most in a single game in SCAC history.
Hudson's first score came from 75 yards, with each of his next two touchdowns coming from 71 yards. With his big rushing performance, the first-year runner moved into first in the SCAC in rushing on the season and is currently averaging 88.2 yards per game.
Strohman had a school-record 6.5 tackles for loss, which ties for the third-most in a single game in SCAC history, in the War Hawks' 28-10 conference victory at Centenary. He finished the game with seven total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and the team finished with 18 tackles for loss, tying the SCAC single-game mark which was first established by Rose-Hulman in 2002 (against Earlham).
The Team of the Week is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 26th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
This week marks the third time this year, the SCAC has landed multiple athletes on the D3Football.com Team of the Week and the sixth and seventh different athlete to be recognized at the national level. The nine different SCAC athletes recognized on the National Team of the Week are tied for the most since the 2016 season. Hudson is the second different ‘Roo to be honored this year, joining Caleb Balderas who was named to the team in week four, while Strohman is the second War Hawk to earn recognition after Jax Rodriguez was named to the squad in week three.
