Southwestern's Broussard Tabbed Finalist for Cliff Harris Award

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Southwestern University senior Justin Broussard was named a 2016 Cliff Harris Award finalist, the Little Rock Touchdown Club and Wright, Lindsey, Jennings announced on Friday.

The Cliff Harris Award is presented to the nation's top small college defensive player. The overall winner will be announced December 24, and honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards banquet on January 19, 2017, featuring guest speaker Archie Manning.

Broussard, who earned SCAC Defensive Player of the Year and D3football.com second-team All-South Region honors, led Southwestern to a 7-3 record and the SCAC title in 2016. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive end posted 60 tackles, including 20.5 for loss and 15.5 sacks in his senior campaign. He finished his career with 37 sacks, which is tied for second all-time in SCAC history. Broussard also set the conference's single-game mark with 5.5 sacks at Trinity on October 15.
