Texas Lutheran Remains 17th in Latest AFCA Poll

WACO, Texas - Texas Lutheran remained at No. 17 in the American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll after the Bulldogs' bye week of Oct. 18.
 
The Bulldogs, at 6-0, received 364 voting points in Monday's poll after receiving 329 voting points in the AFCA poll of Oct. 13.
 
The top three in the AFCA poll remain Wisconsin-Whitewater, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mount Union. UW-Whitewater received 38 first-place votes, and Mount Union received three first-place votes.
 
Second-ranked UMHB, TLU's opponent this Saturday in Bulldog Stadium, tallied one first-place vote.
 
The Cru, at 6-0, travel to Seguin after a 45-24 win in Belton, Texas over Louisiana College. Kickoff Saturday is set for 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at http://tlubulldogs.com/tickets.
 
In the D3football.com poll, the Bulldogs received 10 more voting points than last week and tied the program's highest placement in the D3football.com poll. The Bulldogs are one spot out of the Top 25.
 
The Bulldogs also were one spot outside the D3football.com Top 25 on Nov. 3, 2013, but received only 29 voting points in that particular week.
 
The No. 17 position in the AFCA poll is TLU's highest national ranking in any poll since the team was ranked 16th in the NAIA Division I Football Top 20 on Nov. 7, 1984.
