TLU's Williams; Trinity's Boboy, Wise Named SCAC Football Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Texas Lutheran's Lewis Williams II, Trinity's Tomy Boboy and Kevin Wise were named SCAC Football Players of the Week after great performances this past weekend leading to their team's success.

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, October 19th

LEWIS WILLIAMS II OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a 5-10, 170-pound junior wide receiver from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 19th. 

Williams enjoyed a career day in the Bulldogs' 41-16 road win over Sul Ross State. 

Williams set career highs for receiving TDs (3), receiving yards (184) and total receptions (11) in the TLU win. 

Williams scored on Brent Peavy touchdown passes of seven, 50, and 31 yards. He also returned three kickoffs for 71 yards with a long of 33.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior running back James Nwankpah of Austin College rushed 24 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns to lead Austin College past Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Nwankpah surpassed 100 yards for the second time this season in the victory. Junior wide receiver Matthew Kennemer of Trinity caught seven passes for 129 yards to lead all players in the game, nabbing both of Trinity's offensive touchdowns on the day. Southwestern did not nominate anyone.

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, October 19th

TOMY BOBOY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-0, 221-pound junior linebacker from Hurst, Texas has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 19th.

Boboy led Trinity defense to its first shutout since 2009, defeating Southwestern University 30-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Boboy paced the Tiger defenders with seven total tackles, including 3.5 for a loss of 10 yards and a sack. He also forced a fumble that led to an 85-yard fumble return for the Tigers, and preserved the shutout heading into halftime.

For the season, Boboy is sixth on the team with 32 total tackles, but leads the Tigers with 12.0 tackles for loss on the year. He has also recorded 3.0 sacks.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior cornerback Logan Estes of Austin College had a huge game in the secondary for Austin College, making 10 tackles and breaking up five passes. Senior linebacker Bradley Snowden of Texas Lutheran collected 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack for eight yards and a fumble recovery in the Bulldogs' 41-16 road win over Sul Ross State. Snowden also recorded seven total tackles and nine total yards in tackles for loss. Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
 

SCAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, October 19th

KEVIN WISE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 6-4, 150-pound freshman kicker from Stoneville, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, October 19th.

Wise led Trinity to a 30-0 win over Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon, successfully converting three field goals and three extra points in his first career game.

Wise knocked through a 22-yard field goal and three extra points in the opening half, then finished off the game's scoring with two more 22-yard field goals in the second half of play.

It was the first game in Wise's career, and improved on a kicking unit that was just 1-4 on field goals during the last game.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior kicker Tyler Bradenburg of Texas Lutheran had a career day punting the ball, averaging 40.9 yards per punt and sending a long punt 53 yards. He put a career-best four punts into the opponents' 20-yard line, and he had two punts over 50 yards. Austin College and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
