
STERLING, Va. - DePauw University senior
quarterback Spud Dick, selected the South Region Offensive
Player-of-the-Year, leads a list of 12 SCAC student-athletes
selected to the 2009 D3football.com All-South Region Team.
Since D3football.com began naming All-Region teams in 2005,
Dick is the league's first region Player-of-the-Year selection.
The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information
directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 205
nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 78 players
were chosen.
Joining Dick on the South Region First Team was teammate and junior
wide receiver Alex Koors. In a selection made last month, Koors was
voted the 2009 SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year.
Junior linebacker Will Hawkins of Millsaps College - the 2009 SCAC
Defensive Player-of-the-Year - as well as first-year Trinity
University teammates Garrett Biel (placekicker) and Kyle Trella
(punter) - were also South Region First Team selections.
Junior return man Michael Galatas and junior safety Kevin Peters -
both of Millsaps - were Second Team selections.
Centre College had two representatives on the All-South Region
Third Team - sophomore running back Jonathan Pinque and sophomore
offensive tackle Ben Hume. DePauw's senior guard David
Joeckel, Millsaps' sophomore running back Shane Bowser and
Trinity's senior center Josh Hooten were also named to the Third
Team.
