STERLING, Va. - Senior defensive lineman
Denarold Anderson of Millsaps College, junior defensive lineman
Alex Fitch of DePauw University, junior defensive back Zack Sloan
of Centre College and junior return specialist Caleb Urban of
Trinity University were all named to D3football.com's National Team of
the Week for games played on Saturday, September 27.
Anderson had a team-high eight tackles, including a sack for
minus-9 yards, to lead a Millsaps defense that surrendered just 135
yards of total offense at Rhodes in a 49-2 win.
Fitch had five tackles and blocked an extra-point attempt and a
field goal in the Tigers' 27-20 win against Sewanee.
Sloan recorded five tackles (three solo), intercepted two passes,
broke up another one and recovered a fumble in a 22-17 win against
Austin. Sloan's first interception ended the Kangaroo's second
drive of the day at the Centre 2-yard line. He later recovered a
fumble at the Colonels' 32-yard line at the end of the first half
and picked off his second pass at the end of the game to end
Austin's comeback attempt at Centre's 15-yard line.
Urban's 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second
half turned a close game into a 21-3 lead for the visiting Tigers.
Urban's first career return touchdown is the first for a Trinity
player since his older brother, D3football.com All-American Jerheme
Urban, returned a 91-yard kickoff for a score in the 2002 playoffs
against St. John's.
