LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The 2022 SCAC Esports Showdown website has been launched. The page contains visitor's information regarding the April 1-2 event at the Schreiner University Athletic & Events Center on the campus of Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas, as well as a schedule of events and information related to the eight participating teams. The championship is scheduled to run from Friday, April 1 through Saturday, April 2 and will feature competition across six different games: Apex Legends, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Crew and Valorant. The school that accumulates the most points across the six different competitions will be declared the 2022 SCAC Esports Showdown Champion. Last year, due to COVID protocols, the event was held virtually and the team title was shared between Colorado College and Concordia (Texas).
This will be the second time the championship will have been contested in person. The inaugural event was held at Schriener in April 2019 and won by Colorado College. The 2020 championship was not played due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
