Jobee Boone, Centenary College, Hitter of the Week (Week 8)

JOBEE BOONE OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior from Opelousas, Louisiana, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, March 25 through Sunday, March 31. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 8

Boone was red-hot last week, helping lead Centenary to a 2-1 mark in SCAC road action against Schreiner. Boone batted .818 (9-for-11), posting multi-hit games in each contest, with three runs scored, five runs driven in, and three stolen bases in the series which included a season-high four hits in Thursday’s 7-0 win over the Mountaineers. Boone stole a base and scored a run in each contest and finished the week with an on-base percentage of .857 and .909 slugging percentage.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Senior infielder Alexander Cannata of Southwestern batted .455 (5-for-11) at the plate to lead the Pirates to a 2-1 record in a three-game conference series against Dallas. Cannata tallied at least one hit in all three contests and finished with five RBI, two runs scored and a .538 on-base percentage. First-year outfielder Kaleb Woodward of Trinity batted a steady .500 in a three-game series against St. Thomas last week, recording at least one hit in each game and finishing the weekend with four hits in eight plate appearances. Woodward recorded two RBI, scored once, stole three bases, and finished with a .636 on-base percentage. Senior outfielder Hayden Kesselring of Texas Lutheran went 7-for-15 (.467) on the week for the Bulldogs, scoring seven runs while driving in four. The senior posted a .533 slugging percentage in the three-game series sweep of Austin College.
