Corey Cater, Trinity University, Pitcher of the Week (Week 6)

COREY CATER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior right-hander from Sacramento, Calif., has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, March 9 through Sunday, March 15.

Cater earned the victory in relief during No. 5 Trinity's 10-inning win over New Jersey City University on Tuesday, sparking the Tigers to a 3-0 record during the week. The right-hander struck out all four batters he faced in the ninth and 10th innings, including a strikeout to close the ninth and set up Trinity's rally that sent the game into extra innings. He then struck out the side in the 10th to set up the game-winning homer in the bottom of the inning.

Cater finishes the season with a 3-0 record and a 2.12 ERA, striking out 21 hitters in 17 innings pitched, and allowing just four earned runs.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year left-hander J.J. Slack of Southwestern struck out five of the 10 hitters he faced in 2.0 innings of work, giving up just two hits and one earned run. Junior right-hander Zach Perry of Texas Lutheran tossed three shutout innings of relief and picked up the win in TLU's 16-3 non-conference victory over DeSales (Pa.). Perry struck out one and did not walk a batter.
