Rafe Chaumette, Trinity University, Hitter of the Week (Week 6)

RAFE CHAUMETTE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Sugarland, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday,  March 11 through Sunday, March 17.

Chaumette led the third-ranked Tigers to 4-0 record last week, including a three-game road-sweep of SCAC opponent Dallas. Chaumette had three multi-hit games during the week, going 9-16 (.563) overall and 6-11 (.545) in SCAC play. He started the week with back-to-back three-hit games during which he drove in seven runs and scored three others to account for nearly half of Trinity’s 21 runs scored in that span. In the series opener with Dallas, Chaumette drove in four runs in the seventh and eighth innings as the Tigers turned a narrow 3-2 margin into a 10-4 victory. Overall, Chaumette drove in nine runs and scored five more for the Tigers, picking up two walks and two sacrifices to go with his nine total hits. 

Other Outstanding Performances:

Southwestern junior infielder Daniel Montgomery Jr. went 6-for-13 at the plate (.462) with six RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases to lead the Pirates to a 2-2 record last week which included a win over last year’s Div. III National Champion Texas-Tyler. Junior second baseman Austin Colon led Texas Lutheran to a 2-1 series victory over Wisconsin-Platteville tallying five RBI while batting .417 (5-for-12). Schreiner sophomore infielder Jeffrey Williams collected seven RBI and four hits in the Mountaineers’ three-game series with Southwestern. Sophomore infielder Chris Haggard averaged .462 at the plate (6-for-13) for Centenary with five runs score and five RBI to lead the Gents to a 2-1 series victory over Austin College.
