RYAN GRAY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Tucson, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, February 22nd through Sunday February 28th.
Gray pitched eight shutout innings in his only appearance last week, sparking the Tigers to a three-game weekend sweep of Austin College.
Gray struck out eight batters without issuing a walk in the game, yielding just six hits to even his season record at 2-2, and lowering his ERA to 3.80.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore pither Jackie Allen of Centenary College fanned four and allowed only one unearned run in 7.2 innings pitched on Saturday. Junior pitcher Ryan Hammonds of Dallas earned a winning decision on Saturday against Texas Lutheran University, that helped Dallas claim an eventual series win in non-conference action. Freshman pitcher Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran tossed a complete-game, three-hitter and picked up the win against University of Dallas.
